Lighting up the world

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14 NIV)

Around the world, 2012 was welcomed in with some spectacular displays of fireworks. With the different colours and shapes, fireworks are a mix of excitement and potential. As humans we are also filled with excitement and potential as the year begins but let events and seasons dim our spark. Fireworks emit their light and then blowout, if they fail to be sparked properly then they will never show the beauty and potential that lies within. Life is short, you have to take your opportunity to shine before your light goes out. Your light is not only important in your own life, Matthew 5:14 tells us that you are also the light of the world. That means our actions may seem small at times, but they have the ability to change the way the world sees. Even the smallest light draws attention in the deepest of darkness. If your life is dark right now, fill it with the light of the Holy Spirit. God’s direction shines like a beacon when we are lost in the darkness of our own thoughts, faults or failures. Live this year as if it were your last, as if it is your only opportunity to fulfil your purpose on this planet. It doesn’t have to start big, just some one-on-one time with your bible and some prayer can go a long way. The more you fill yourself with “The true light that gives light to everyone” (John 1:9 NIV) then the more you will shine for the world to see.

powerful... the more you fill yourself with the word of God, the more of Him you have. so if you have more of Him in your life, that definately means more light in you. Christ is indeed the true light and we should search for Him for He is the God that hideth himself. Love the Lord with all your heart....thats your whole being.
