What does it mean to be a Christian

Sometimes I am amazed at the things that we 'Christians' do, pretense, backbiting, lack of remorse, pride, disobedience, rudeness, lack of respect among other things and wonder if we realize that these things are stopping us from reaching our potential. How can we be laborers in the vineyard when we can't serve others, we can't talk to people nicely, we are so full of ourselves, we murmur and are full of complaints.
I realized that regardless of how much I read the bible and pray to God for strength to be a better person I always fall short, I think I'm changing but it doesn't take much for me to take offense or criticize something or someone, forgive!!

I then realized that there was something I wasn't doing right, I heard a message about having the Word of God in my heart, from the message Pastor preached on ' What it means to believe with your heart' I had a better understanding of what doing something from the heart meant. If you do not have the Word of God in your heart you will struggle with so many things. However if you have the Word in your heart wow, what you say and do will definitely glorify God. 
It is one thing to be able to pray well and recite scripture at the drop of a hat, if the word of God is not in your heart what you say will be a reflection of your shallowness spiritually.
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. (Matthew 15:8 KJV) what we say will always let people know what is really in our hearts.


O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. (Matthew 12:34 KJV)

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. (Luke 6:45 KJV)

I always say that I'm nice, I'm good but I realize that I'm far from it, and my only hope is having the word of God in my heart, believing with my heart.I want to glorify God in all I say and all I do. I want to be a spirit filled melancholic. I want to be good!!!!! Help me Lord! Let us be a good example of what being a true Christian is. When we do that God will bless us with the mega church He has promised us.
